Salvation

YOU were created with value and worth.
God wants your life to count.
Did you know...

God loves you and created you to have a personal relationship with Him.

God Created You:

In Psalm 139:13-14 the Bible says, "For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

God Loves You:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16).

God Wants You To Know Him:

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3).

Why is it that many people do not have a personal relationship with God?

Our sin keeps us from having a personal relationship with God.

What Is Sin:

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." (James 4:17).

You see, God is holy and perfect . . . and we are not. Sin not only means doing wrong or failing to do all that God wants. Sin is also our attitude of ignoring or rejecting God. Because God is holy, He cannot accept our sin.

Who Has Sinned:

What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:9,10)

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12)

What Happens When We Sin:

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:2).

"For the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23a).

Sin causes a gap between God and us. Death, which in these verses means eternal separation from God, is the penalty for our sin.

What is the solution to our separation from God?

Only through Jesus Christ can you have a personal relationship with God.

Why Jesus Christ:

In John 14:6 Jesus said, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

It is only through Jesus Christ that we can have a relationship with God.

Why Did Jesus Christ Have To Die:

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" (1 Peter 3:18).

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:6-9)

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2Corinthians 5:21)

Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins, so we might be forgiven.

Why Did Jesus Christ Rise From The Dead:

Jesus Christ rose from the dead to prove He could give us eternal life.

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" (1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. (1 Corinthians 15:54)

How can you begin your personal relationship with God?

You must personally respond by trusting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

You Respond With Trust In Christ:

In Ephesians 2:8-9 the Bible says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

You Respond By Turning To God From Sin:

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. " (Acts 3:19).

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3)

You Respond By Receiving Christ:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: " (John 1:12).

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) (Romans 5:17)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)

Receiving Christ Means:

  • Turning to God from your own way of living (repentance).
  • Inviting Christ to come into your life and trusting Him to forgive your sin.
  • Allowing God to direct your life. Receiving Jesus Christ is not just an emotional experience; nor is it just agreeing in your mind that Jesus is the Son of God. It means total trust .

Where would you place yourself in the following illustration?

Where would you like to be? You can begin your personal relationship with God by receiving Jesus Christ as Savior.

You Can Express Your Faith (Trust) Through Prayer:

Prayer is simply talking to God. He knows what you mean, even when you find it difficult to express yourself. You may use the following words or your own.

Dear God, I know that my sin has separated me from You. My desire is to turn from those things that I know keep me form having a relationship with you, and turn toward you, God. Thank You that Jesus Christ died in my place. I ask Jesus to forgive my sin and to come into my life. Please begin to direct my life. Thank You for giving me eternal life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Can you say this to God and mean it?

If you can pray right now and trust Jesus to forgive your sin and come into your life, as He promised.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1John 5:11-13)

What Next?

Your trust in Jesus Christ begins a lifelong relationship.

God Commits Himself To You

  • God assures you that Jesus Christ has come into your life. In John 14:20, Jesus says, "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you"
  • God will never leave you. " for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. " (Hebrews 13:5b).
  • God completely forgives your sin. "And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; " (Colossians 2:13-14).
  • God gives you His Holy Spirit to enable you to live the Christian life. "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." (Galatians 5:25).

Wouldn't you like to stop and thank God that Christ is in your life and will never leave you? To keep growing in your relationship with God . . .

G--Go to God daily in prayer (Philippians 4:6-7).

R--Read the Bible every day (2 Timothy 3:14-17).

O--Obey God moment by moment (Luke 6:46-48).

W--Worship regularly in a local church (Hebrews 10:24-25).

T --Tell others about Jesus Christ (1 Peter 3:15-16).

H --Holy Spirit--let Him direct your life (John 14:26).

Now you can share your most important relationship. "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10).
